Sixth graders at Clinton
Middle School have a lot to look forward to this year. The sixth grade Language
Arts class is posed to be fun, creative, and exceptional. Students who attend
this class will learn how to read and write in preparation for the LEAP, and to meet the standards of the Louisiana State Department of Education and the even higher expectations
of their newest teacher, Mrs. Francis Ealy (pronounced E –
Lee).
In accordance with the LA State Department
of Education (LADOE), students are expected to master seven standards under the headings of Reading/Responding,
Writing, Writing/Proofreading, Speaking and Listening, and Information Resources.
Mrs. Ealy proposes the following
strategies to engage students in the learning process:
· to use approved researched-based
creative and critical thinking strategies and techniques to get students involved in the learning process
· to encourage a holistic approach
to learning and to motivate students to reach higher levels, which involves all stakeholders including the students,
other teachers/ professional staff members, parents, and community leaders
· to have a school environment
conducive to learning and free of extractions related to behavioral and discipline concerns
· to include technology and related
services, such as Accelerated Reading Program, in the teaching event as much as possible so that students can relate
what they learn to what they see and do in the real world.
